Step by step process starting from arrival in Canada for a non- Canadian student to achieving the Commercial Pilot Licence.

Step by step process for a non- Canadian student

1. Arrive in Canada (with a valid visa) with Travel Medical Insurance (If the insurance is not there then school will help you get one)
2. Stay in a school provided accommodation or in your own arranged accommodation.
3. School Orientation, completion of the paperwork (Filling registration forms and student contracts) and the issuance of books and material.
4. Book appointment for the Transport Canada (TC) Aviation Medical Exam and get the exam done.

While you wait for the TC Medical Certificate to arrive the following will be done -
5. Classroom teaching for Aviation Language, Radio Communication Procedures and basics of aviation to prepare for Student Pilot Permit exam (PSTAR)
6. Flying training would start.
7. Take the exams for Aviation Language, Radio Licence and PSTAR.

After the exams are passed and Medical certificate has arrived –
8. Fill and sign the application for Radio Licence.
9. Issuance of the Student Pilot Permit.
10. The flying training would continue as per TC regulations and lesson plans
11. Ground school for Private Pilot Licence (PPL) written exam would now start.

On completion of the PPL ground school –
12. Take in-school practice exams to get the recommendation for the TC written exam

On reaching the total of 10 Hours of flight time
13. Take the exam for the TC Private Pilot Licence written exam

On completion of the flying training requirements for PPL –
14. A mock flight test would be conducted and when successful the recommendation for the TC Flight test would be provided
15. Appear for the TC PPL Flight test.
16. On successfully passing the PPL written exam and PPL flight test you will be issued with a temporary PPL Licence valid for 90days followed by the actual Licence within 90days.

*If you are not able to pass the TC written exam in first attempt then, 12 & 13 above will be done again. And if you are not able to pass the flight test in first attempt then 14 &15 above will be followed again.

Once PPL has been issued, students continue towards the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) Training

17. Ground school for Commercial Pilot Licence (PPL) written exam would now start.
18. The flying training would continue as per TC regulations and lesson plans for CPL

On completion of the CPL ground school –
19. Take in-school practice exams to get the recommendation for the TC written exam

On reaching the total of 100 Hours of flight time -
20. Take the exam for the TC Commercial Pilot Licence written exam

On completion of the flying training requirements for CPL –
21. A mock flight test would be conducted and when successful the recommendation for the TC Flight test would be provided
22. Appear for the TC CPL Flight test.
23. On successfully passing the CPL written exam and CPL flight test you will be issued with a temporary CPL Licence valid for 90days followed by the actual Licence within 90days.
